Samsung QD-OLED Screens

We’re starting 2022 off with a bang!

CES 2022 showcased many new innovative technologies, but Samsung’s QD (Quantum Dot) OLED technology piqued our interest.

Let’s start by talking about OLED. OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode. It’s a technology where each pixel in an OLED display lights up when you send electricity through it. The pixels individually produce light, allowing each one to switch on or off independently, creating true infinite contrast, allowing for superb picture quality.

How does Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology improve on this technology? Quantum Dots are semiconductor nanoparticles that glow a particular colour after being illuminated by light. They allow a broader range of colours to be reproduced and make images appear vivid and lifelike while being very efficient in the process.

Samsung has sought to fuse these two technologies together, to create a revolutionary new way of experiencing Television.
